Tucson, Ariz. – The University of Arizona Wildcat men’s and women’s track and field teams competed in the annual Winter All-Comers Meet at Roy P. Drachman Stadium on a rainy Saturday morning. The track and field program is split up into three teams, red, white and blue. The teams are chosen through a draft process. The meet was scored in a 7-5-4-3-2-1 system and only the athletes from Arizona are eligible to score. This is not an official meet; therefore the marks set by the student-athletes will not count towards NCAA qualifying marks. After completing 19 events, the meet was called due to the downpour of rain. Lane one was a puddle all the way around the track and the runways and rings for field events had become unsafe. The final scores were blue with 153, red with 98.5 and white with 90.5. Although the meet was cut short, Director of Cross Country and Track and Field Fred Harvey declared that blue is still the official winner. Blue has now won the meet for the third-straight year.
On the blue team, senior Baillie Gibson earned a first-place finish in the women’s hammer throw competition with a toss of 184-3 (56.15m). Senior Mohammad Alhasan took first place in the men’s 60-meter dash with a time of 6.92 for the blue team. Freshman Isaac Hing’s time of 7.09 in the 60-meter dash was good for second place. The men’s 1,000-meter race was a big event for the blue squad. They tallied 14 points with athletes taking second through fifth place. Senior Sam Macaluso’s time of 2:33.12 was good for second place. Freshman Michael Godbout finished in third place with a mark of 2:34.21. Senior Shakayla McEaddy won the women’s high jump (short approach 5-5,1.65m) and women’s javelin (100-1, 30.50m) competitions for the blue team, adding 14 points to their total. Sophomore Aaron Castle won the men’s shot put competition with a toss of 58-3.75 (17.77m) and freshman Viktor Gardenkrans took second place, throwing 50-1.25 (15.27m).

Hurst threw the javelin and took third place overall with a mark of 81-5 (24.83m). Hurst won the women’s shot put competition, throwing 34-7.75 (10.56m, a mark that would be a personal best if official).
