Coast Guard medevacs man from charter boat off NC coast

WILMINGTON, N.C. — The United States Coast Guard medevaced a 47-year-old man from a charter boat named Tortuga, Saturday approximately 20 miles southeast of Morehead City.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector North Carolina received notification at approximately 3:00 p.m. from the crew of the Tortuga reporting a diver was in medical distress.
A 25-foot Response Boat - Small boat crew from Coast Guard Station Fort Macon launched at approximately 3:30 p.m. with a local EMT aboard.
At 4:02 p.m, the RB-S crew arrived on scene and medevaced the man. The man was taken to Station Fort Macon where he was transferred to local EMS and taken to Carteret General Hospital.
